ANA GRILLO is an independent filmmaker and award winning photographer, and began her career specializing in documentary photography. Having won a spot in the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop in 1997, she received awards for Best Portfolio and Best Documentary Project, for a photo essay about one woman’s recovery from breast cancer. That same year, Ana started freelancing for The New York Times covering the Clinton sex scandal as a photojournalist. As her career grew, she moved into editorial, advertising and non-profit photography, and has been published both nationally and internationally. Ana took a hiatus from photography and taught yoga for 5 years, but returned to her art in 2007. A career highlight was traveling through India in 2008, and donating her work to non-profits. Ana's 2009 move to San Francisco inspired her evolution as a filmmaker. She now freelances as a cinematographer, photographer, and video maker for a number of local clients, including the Frameline Film Festival and Burning Man. Currently, Ana is producing a documentary called, "What is Love? San Francisco," a film that explores the unique culture of love on the streets and in the hearts of the people of San Francisco.
