Jack is a single dad facing Christmas with his daughter Harper for the first time since his divorce. Struggling to juggle work and fatherhood, Jack's life takes an unexpected turn when he hires Mary, a bubbly American au pair, to look after Harper. Harper and Mary hit it off instantly, their shared love of Christmas creating a bond that lights up their home. As holiday cheer fills the house, Jack's work commitments cause him to miss these magical moments. But when an evening together brings Jack and Mary closer, Jack begins to see the holiday through fresh eyes.
