The movie focuses on four longtime friends who all end up back in their Indiana hometown after losing jobs or otherwise failing at what they'd tried to do in their young adult years. As the film progresses, we learn of the paths that brought them to where they are now, and watch as they come to terms with adult lives that aren't what they'd planned them to be.
