Edge of Seventeen

Here’s a horror film in broad daylight and shot in an elevator — a tight space that magnifies the tension. For a time, we know the schoolgirl is trapped.

Does the 17-year-old see her tormentors or does she only feel their presence? Either way, she’s fearful and brave in the same way many students are when they face repeated bullying on their way home from school.

You may at first interpret everything going on as happening inside her head. But by the end, the director will make you doubt that this is just one girl’s imagination.
