Luke the Dog nasceu em 1913 em Los Angeles, Califórnia, EUA. Era um Staffordshire Bull Terrier que atuou como um personagem recorrente em filmes curtas de comédia americanos entre 1914 e 1920. Era também o animal de estimação pessoal da atriz Minta Durfee e seu marido, o comediante e diretor Roscoe "Fatty "Arbuckle.
O bull terrier compartilhou o tempo de tela não apenas com Arbuckle e Durfee, mas também com outras estrelas e principais atores de apoio da era silenciosa, incluindo Mabel Normand, Buster Keaton, Al St. John, Molly Malone, Joe Roberts, Betty Compson e Edgar Kennedy.
