Matt Harlock has been writing/directing film for 10 years through his own production company halflife films. His current film project is 'American: The Bill Hicks Story', a new feature length documentary for the BBC and DVD release that Matt developed with Paul Thomas after establishing contact with the Hick's estate over four years ago by organising tribute nights to the late comedian in London.

Matt's award-winning drama shorts have been screened widely at festivals and on television.

Matt's fifth film, Toll, (2002) has been broadcast by Film Four, HBO, Sky and TCM (shortlist award), was distributed worldwide by Britshorts, selected for The British Council's overseas festival submissions programme and screened at over 20 UK festivals.

His fourth short as writer/director, Lollipop (2001) was commissioned by and broadcast on Channel 4, along with the accompanying 'making of' documentary, as part of the new directors 'Road Movies' season.

Matt's team also won a National 48 Hour Film Challenge with The Clouds, 2003), and has placed top 3 in three Raindance Live Ammunition pitching contests.

The Lotus Eaters, Matt's first feature script, won a development award from The Film Consortium through the First Film Foundation's new writers initiative in 2000.
