The German-Japanese violin player, Midori Seiler, is the daughter of a Japanese pianist mother and a Bavarian pianist father, who grew up in Salzburg, Austria. Her musical training took her from Salzburg to Basel, London and Berlin. Her teachers were Helmut Zehetmair, Sandor Végh, Adelina Oprean, David Takeno, Eberhard Feltz and Stephan Mai

Since 2000, Midori Seiler is concertmistress of the orchestras Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Anima Eterna and was invited as guest concertmaster at various groups, such as Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. As soloist in Europe, South America, Asia and the USA, she performed violin concerti by J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, Mozart and Beethoven.

Her recordings, among them several winning awards, include the violin concerti by Mozart, her own reconstruct ion (after BWV 1052) of a lost violin concerto by J.S. Bach and Sheherezade by Rimskij-Korsakoff. With pianist and specialist for historical keyboard instruments Jos van Immerseel she produced the violin sonatas by Mozart and Schubert. Their complete recording of sonatas by Beethoven will be released in 2011. Much public attention was given to a DVD which was produced by Harmonia Mundi France, featur ing Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, choreographer Juan Kruz and Midori Seiler as soloist in Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in a scenic performance. The audio CD of this opus will be available in February 2010.

Midori Seiler has taught at master-classes in Bruges, Antwerpen and Chemnitz and has been invited to teach at the Royal Conservatoire Den Haag at the subject ‘Performance Practice of the Ninteenth Century‘. From spring 2010, she will be professor for Baroque violin and viola in the Institute for Early Music at the Liszt School of Music Weimar.

Her next projects include a CD product ion which will be dedicated to the Partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach.
