During the war, Wataru meets a young Kumiko, who cares for his mother as a nurse. Wataru's friend goes to the front and asks Wataru to marry his sister Reiko. Kumiko does not want to interfere with the happiness of her beloved and leaves for her homeland in Hiroshima, Wataru pursues her, but it is time for him to go to the front.
