"Unlike real misery, Polish misery is a state of mind, not necessarily a state of being. Our characters are searching for something else. The experience loneliness and fail to communicate with each other though they wish to. Locked in a foretold destiny, they move in cycles which ultimately bring them nowhere. Only one boy tries to cut lose, still dreams, craves life and strives to win."
