Horror auteur Richard Stanley applies his psychedelic vision to a real-life subject in this film about the life and philosophical leanings of Otto Rahn, an SS lieutenant who scoured Europe in search of the Holy Grail. Using archival and found footage, altered excerpts from classic films, interviews, letters and more, Stanley illuminates a morally ambiguous man who was also a brilliant trailblazer in the field of mystical research.
