Una vita violenta is a 1961 Italian drama film by Paolo Heusch and Brunello Rondi, at his directorial debut. It is based on a novel with the same name by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Set in post-war Italy Violent Life chronicles the deeds of young Tommaso (Franco Citti), a reckless hoodlum, who spends his time on the streets of Rome. Flirting with both the Fascists and the Communists Tommaso unexpectedly falls in love with the beautiful Irene (Serena Vergano). His life takes an unusual turn.
