David Khari Webber Chappelle é um comediante de stand-up e ator norte-americano. Ele estrelou e cocriou a série de esquetes de comédia satírica Chappelle's Show (2003–2006), antes de abandonar a produção no meio da terceira temporada. Após um hiato, Chappelle voltou a se apresentar em shows de stand-up por todos os Estados Unidos. Em 2006, a revista Esquire o chamou de “gênio cômico da América” e, em 2013, um escritor da Billboard o descreveu como “o melhor”. Em 2017, a Rolling Stone o classificou em 9º lugar em sua lista dos “50 Melhores Comediantes de Stand-Up de Todos os Tempos”.

Chappelle apareceu em diversos filmes, incluindo Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), The Nutty Professor (1996), Con Air (1997), You've Got Mail (1998), Blue Streak (1999), Undercover Brother (2002), Dave Chappelle's Block Party (2005), Chi-Raq (2015) e A Star Is Born (2018). Seu primeiro papel principal foi na comédia Half Baked (1998), que ele também coescreveu. Chappelle estrelou ainda a série de comédia da ABC Buddies (1996). Em 2016, ele assinou um contrato com a Netflix de 20 milhões de dólares por especial, lançando seis especiais de stand-up sob esse acordo.

Como comediante de stand-up, lançou seu primeiro especial Killin' Them Softly (2000) pela HBO, seguido por For What It's Worth pela Showtime. Desde então, lançou oito especiais para a Netflix. Ele venceu seis Grammy Awards de Melhor Álbum de Comédia por The Age of Spin (2018), Equanimity & The Bird Revelation (2019), Sticks & Stones (2019), The Closer (2021), What's in a Name? (2022) e The Dreamer (2023).

Chappelle recebeu inúmeros prêmios, incluindo seis Emmy Awards, seis Grammy Awards e o Mark Twain Prize for American Humor em 2019, concedido pelo Kennedy Center como a mais alta honraria da comédia nos Estados Unidos.
